IQOS Heets strong sticks will get rid of coughing

Recent years have been marked by the rapid development of innovative alternative means of delivery of nicotine – vapes, electronic cigarettes and smokeless tobacco heating systems commonly called IQOS Heets strong sticks. All of these gadgets, according to their manufacturers, are aimed at reducing the harm from the consumption of nicotine and reducing the risk of diseases associated with smoking. Does giving up cigarettes in favor of technologically advanced smokeless analogues really help restore immunity? What happens to the body after the transition? T&P sorted these out with the help of the Global Nicotine Forum. The event, where the main experts of the nicotine consumption industry meet, is held annually in Warsaw.

There was an experiment with 60 volunteers, each of whom was a heavy smoker. The study participants were divided into three groups. Those who ended up in the first, as part of the experiment, continued to smoke as usual, the second group switched to IQOS Heets strong sticks, and the third completely quit smoking.

Five days after the start of the study, all study participants had their carboxyhemoglobin levels measured. This compound is formed when hemoglobin contained in the blood comes into contact with substances released during combustion. The more carboxyhemoglobin in the body, the worse organs and tissues are supplied with oxygen. As it turned out, five days after switching to IQOS Heets strong sticks, the level of carboxyhemoglobin in the blood drops almost to the same extent as after completely quitting smoking.

On the sixth day after switching to IQOS Heets strong sticks, participants in the experiment who had complained of coughing before the start were asked if they noticed any improvement in their condition. The majority noted a decrease in the frequency and pain of coughing.
Scientists conducted laboratory studies to find out if the vapor emitted by IQOS Heets strong sticks differs from cigarette smoke in terms of geno- and cytotoxicity. In tests, the IQOS Heets strong sticks were compared to a 3R4F reference cigarette. The test results showed that the cytotoxicity of IQOS vapor is 95% lower than that of cigarette smoke. The vapor of IQOS Heets strong sticks also turned out to be several times less genotoxic than cigarette smoke.
